Jambiflash.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has not yet confirmed whether he will start working from the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), this month. He is still waiting for the infrastructure to be ready.
According to him, the IKN area has been experiencing heavy rains recently, causing many construction projects to be delayed.
“Initially, the target was July, but when you look at IKN, it’s been raining every day, very heavy rain, so many projects have been delayed, and that’s normal in a large project,” Jokowi told reporters on Tuesday (July 16, 2024).
He stated that IKN is not a project that can be completed in two or three years. He estimates that the project will take a long time.
“This is a big long-term dream, a long-term project. Maybe 15-20 years,” he said.
Previously, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono mentioned that Jokowi might be able to start working from IKN by the end of July 2024. Basic infrastructure such as electricity and water is still being prepared in IKN. (uda)
