Jambiflash.com – The Acting Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has named the Presidential Office in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), as Istana Garuda. This name is now officially in use.
“He mentioned that this is Istana Garuda, it is no longer called the Presidential Office but its official name is Istana Garuda, under the State Palace,” said Basuki after an internal meeting with Jokowi at the Istana Garuda Complex, IKN, on Monday (July 29, 2024).
In the meeting, Basuki reported the progress of IKN. According to him, Jokowi also gave two directives during the meeting.
First, to ensure that community participation in the development of IKN is not marginalized.
“The first focus is to prioritize community participation, especially in the development of IKN. The community should not feel marginalized, displaced, or even evicted. This is in the context of the areas surrounding IKN, prioritizing community participation,” he said.
Second, Basuki said, Jokowi wants the licensing process to be faster to facilitate the entry of investment in IKN. Additionally, he stated that the governance of IKN should serve as a model for other urban areas.
“Secondly, regarding investment, he also conveyed that IKN should become an example of good and fast government management. It is already quite good now but it needs to be faster, particularly in terms of licensing and so on. This will set an example for the governance of other urban areas,” said Basuki.
He stated that Jokowi reminded not to let the community feel displaced due to the development of IKN. Moreover, currently, the government owns as much as 256,000 hectares of land in IKN.
“So, the community should not feel displaced but if relocation is necessary, find a better place for them,” he said.
